

The Food Effect
“The facts, though distasteful, speak for themselves. One in five North Carolina kids under 18 is hungry. For children younger than five, the number jumps to 1 in 4— the littlest ones easily fall through the cracks without school food programs to help sustain them. Beginnings
We started with just 6 backpacks on September 11th 2012 and by month 2 doubled our contributions of wholesome nonperishable food AND added much needed, happy, healthy produce, bread, and milk. This food goes directly to children who face real hunger during their quarterly track-out sessions which are each 3 weeks long. Based on the school’s “rolling” track-out calendar, this means that we are helping 5 to 6 kids in any given month and about 25 individual kids total on an ongo
